Jaffle fillings for every occasion

Two slices of golden, crispy bread oozing with your favourite melted ingredients – what’s not to love about this retro food craze? There’s no limit to the flavour combinations, and cheese isn’t the only star. Start with these delectable sweet and savoury ideas.

 

French croque monsieur

Butter two slices thick sourdough bread. Place one slice butter-side down then spread with Dijon mustard. Top with Gruyère cheese and sliced leg ham and remaining bread slice, butter-side up. Cook in jaffle maker until golden.

 

Top tip: This is the easy way to make a French-style ham and cheese toastie, but if you have time the more traditional version includes a scrummy white cheese sauce. 

 

Caprese

Rub two slices sourdough bread with cut garlic then brush with olive oil. Place one slice oil-side down then top with sliced tomato, buffalo mozzarella and basil leaves. Top with remaining bread, oil-side up. Cook in jaffle maker until golden.

 

Nutella and banana

Spread one slice brioche with Nutella then top with sliced banana. Use a second piece of brioche to make a sandwich. Cook in jaffle maker until golden. Dust with icing sugar to serve.

 

Raspberry white chocolate

Butter two slices thick raisin toast. Place one slice butter-side down then top with ricotta cheese, chopped white chocolate and frozen raspberries. Top with remaining toast, butter-side up. Cook in jaffle maker until golden. Serve with vanilla ice cream.

 

Sweet, savoury and in between, there’s truly a jaffle filling for every occasion. Start taste testing and you’ll soon become the toastie hostie with the mostie.
