DIY Kitchen Cabinet Ideas
Beautiful kitchen cabinetry can make a huge difference to the overall look and feel of your kitchen. Here are some unique ideas for giving your kitchen cupboards a little TLC.
Add a lick of paint
Unless your cabinets are made of premium-quality wood, why not get out some paint and glaze and change their appearance in an instant? You’ll need to sand, prime and then paint to ensure a nice, even finish. If you’re not sure, talk to someone at your local paint or hardware store for advice!
Change the doors altogether
If you’re sick of your kitchen cabinets, and painting isn’t an option, change up some (or even all) of your cupboard doors. You can do this by removing some doors to expose the shelves, or cut out some wood panels, cover it with a nice fabric and insert them into the middle of the door—this will give your kitchen a softer, more elegant look. Like the industrial aesthetic? Use some wire mesh instead!

Dabble in Fabrics
An easy and very affordable method of adding a touch of sophistication to your kitchen is adding some fabrics. Whether you remove some cupboards and replace them with small curtains, or use fabric as a substitute for placemats, there are many ways to bring fabric into the kitchen. If you don’t want to head out to the store, bed sheets are also an excellent option. Get creative and see what works for your kitchen.

The Flooring Facelift
Don’t suffer with those 1970s vinyl floors any longer! These days there are many easy and cost-effective options for replacing those hideous floors.

Paint, paint, paint!

It seems to be the answer to almost anything—give it a new layer of paint. There are plenty of colours and types of paint to choose from, which can completely change the appearance of your kitchen. Look into some free stencils you can find online or at your local hardware store.

Plywood planked floors

Yes, it is possible to install some plywood planked floors. You will need maple hardwood plywood planks (6 inches wide), a nail gun, nails (2 inches long), clear coat and applicator, tape measure, pencil, vacuum, underlayment, mitre saw, a level and a jig saw. This option requires a little more time and effort, but the results will be worth it!
